01 · WHAT IT IS

A better place for the things I notice.

A better place for the things I notice.

Field Notes turns a loose photo into a small reference: what it is, where I found it, how it feels, and the colours I want to remember. A few notes can become a simple one-sheet zine.

02 · WHY I MADE IT

My camera roll was full, but not very useful.

I kept saving signs, surfaces, type, and odd little objects. Months later, I rarely remembered why. I made Field Notes to keep that first observation attached to the image.

03 · HOW I BUILT IT

Small enough to understand.

Small enough to understand.

I built it with vanilla JavaScript, one Node server, and no client dependencies. Files stay on my laptop. Codex helped with implementation and Claude helped me question the grouping and interface; I kept the final system deliberately plain.

04 · FUTURE DIRECTION

Better collections, fewer features.

Better collections, fewer features.

Next I would improve grouping, make optional AI tags easy to inspect, and add simple exports for print sheets and small field guides.

01 · DROP

Drop a photo into the notebook.

02 · NAME & TAG

Name the detail, tag its place and material.

03 · PRINT A ZINE

Select a set and fold it into a one-sheet mini-zine.
